"Stacey, where am I?" Jack spoke in his new girly voice.
Stacey, the brown haired girl, swiveled around in her chair to face Jack again. "Is this a trick question?" Stacey said. Obviously, seeing that Jana was not satisfied with her response, Stacey added: "You're at my house!" She spun back to the mirror and continued preparing herself.
The answer wasn't quite as enlightening as Jack had hoped for, but it was a start. "So, Stace, like, why am I in your bed?" Jack asked.
Stacey swiveled around again. "Boy, did you drink all the alcohol in the house, or are you just that much of an airhead?" Stacey spoke allowed. Below her breath, Jack could have swore he heard Stacey add: "and they call me the dumb one." Again, Stacey noticed that Jana was legitimately looking for more of an answer and so she continued: "You're in my bed because that's where Scott put you after you passed out last night..." she paused for a moment to see if the light bulb would come on above Jana's head, but she still looked like a deer frozen on headlights. So, Stacey elaborated a bit further: "Don't you remember the party we planned? My parents were planning on leaving town this week for like months now, and that's around the same time we started to plan our little get together last night." Stacey saw that Jana still had that 'glazed over' look to her eyes.
Jack thought for a moment about the night before. He seemed to remember some music, lots of beer, and fawning over a couple of guys. Were they football players? It all seemed so distant now. Jack rubbed his head again.
"Hello? Jana, are you there?" Stacey spoke aloud.
Jack looked up to see a very concerned looking Stacey staring at her. "Yeah, I'm here Stace... I'm just having a hard time remembering last night, that's all," Jack said.
"Look, Jana, promise me you won't drink that much again," Stacy said.
"Yeah, no worries," Jack responded.
"Now look, Jana, I know you probably don't want to hear this, but it's 6:45 am. We have to be at the bus stop by 7:29 am if there's any hope of you and I making it to school on time. Given that it takes ten minutes to walk from my place to the bus stop, and that leaves you with 34 minutes to get ready. No human on earth has likely seen you do it in under an hour, so you need to get ready and you need to do it FAST!"
"Ok, I'll try to hurry," Jack responded as he got out of Stacey's bed and made a bee-line for the washroom.
