"Well, I'm sorry I care so much for you," her "new" mother said, folding her arms in front of her and frowning. "Next time I won't bother to come at all." Then she left the room and slammed the door on her way out.
"Good idea!" Jack yelled after her. Then she dropped to her bed in a huff. I wish my mom would mind her own fucking business, she thought.
Then her eyes went wide. What am I saying? she thought. I'm not really a teenage girl and that woman isn't really my mother.
But she couldn't help from acting like it. This new life started to scare her. It was like she was losing herself, becoming whoever this girl was supposed to be.
Jack had to fight it. But every time someone from this new life interacted with her, it became increasingly difficult to remember who she really was.
