Of course, the women changed anyway. Their outfits shifted around their bodies, changing style and material, until they were both dressed in suits and ties, typical office-wear for men, but tailored to fit their female bodies. Then their hair got much shorter, like a man's haircut, and their make-up and jewelry disappeared, except for their wedding bands, that was. But as with all the others who had changed, the women behaved as if nothing had just happened. They continued their conversation, but it sounded quite different now.
"So you want to go out to celebrate your promotion?" the second mother asked the first one. It seemed that now, she had gotten the promotion, instead of being passed over for it.
"You bet," the first mother said. "You have no idea how hard I've worked for this." She paused, then said "Can you believe that Kyle actually threw a hissy fit over losing the promotion? Goddess, what a sore loser. He claimed that my promotion was sexist. It obviously wasn't. I mean, sure, women usually get promoted way more often than men, but I actually worked my ass off for this promotion. He's making it sound like it was a breeze, or something."
"Men," the second mother said, shaking her head.
