Jim meandered around his room as he slowly but surely went through his usual getting dressed routine that he usually reserved for the weekdays. Matt, who was long since dressed and ready to go to the park, sat on Jim's bed and attentively watched his big brother dress himself in a half awake stupor.
After 45 minutes (and a dozen "are you ready yet's" from Matt) Jim was finally done and the two headed out the door to Jim's beat up Ford truck.
"It takes you too long to get ready," said Matt, as he climbed into the passenger seat. "Only girls take that long to get ready."
"Whatever," replied Jim disinterestingly. He climbed in behind the steering wheel, placed the key into the ignition and fired up the clunky engine. "At least I'm not a dork that would rather go to the park than sleep in the rest of the day."
"I'm telling mom you said that." Matt crossed his arms and gave Jim a cross look.
"Fine, then I'll tell her what really happened to Uncle Edward's urn," said Jim who gave his little brother a sly smile as he layed out his trump card.
Matt simply looked downward in defeat and let out a sigh, knowing that he was already thoroughly defeated.
"Cheer up, bucko" said Jim giving his little brother a punch in the arm before he pulled out of the driveway. "We're heading to the park just like you wanted and who knows, even though the odds are against it, something exciting just might happen."
