"This." Rick dramatically pulled out a small box. He opened it up. Inside was a ring. It was a pretty fancy one, with what looked like a diamond set in it. In fact, it looked exactly like a, a...
A wedding ring.
"Jim," said Rick, starting to choke up. "I've loved you for a long time. I know that you aren't gay, and that you only experimented with me because we're friends. But I've always known that I loved other guys. I've had more than a few boyfriends, but there's only one man that I've wanted to spend my whole life with. And that's you, Jim. And Jim, I know that this is very sudden, but will you marry me?"
Jim was stunned. Yes, like Rick said, he wasn't gay. He had tried it out a few times, mostly with Rick and occasionally with a couple of the other openly gay boys in school. He'd enjoyed it, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to spend his life married to another man.
"This is so, so sudden, Rick," said Jim. "I'm flattered that you love me so much. I, I don't know how to respond."
"Shh," said Rick, hugging Jim close and kissing him on the lips. "You have all the time you need, but if you say 'yes,' you'll make me the happiest man alive."
