As far as the outside world was concerned, Sarah McMillan sauntered down the school halls like any other morning.

The outside world was wrong on two counts.

First, Sarah shimmered with an ethereal glow no one questioned, had features so elegant and perfect they couldn’t have been real, and moved with such a divine grace it was hard to tell if she even touched the floor. Her makeup was immaculate; subtle yet vibrant, with the distinct choice of wine-red lipstick to match her eyes and contrast her waist-length, gold-metallic hair. Her outfit was, of course, also immaculate; an airy sundress that clung to her curves like green on grass, covered in an ever-shifting flower design and pairing wonderfully with her bright wedge sandals.

Second, it wasn’t actually Sarah. It was Karyn, who was too busy moaning internally to appreciate how expensive she looked.

What the hell. What the hell. What the hell.

The morning was a dumpster fire. Karyn had woken from the worst sleep of her life, only to be forced into Sarah’s gauntlet of a morning routine. Stretches, a cold shower, a weird kale smoothie that could hardly be called a breakfast—did this girl even enjoy living?

That didn't even cover the bizarre process of dressing up. Sarah’s clothes just… Changed, as soon as they touched her body. The sundress was supposed to be a simple sundress. Now it shimmered with the same angelic light as Karyn, and almost seemed to billow to an unseen wind. The shoes were different, too. The heels weren’t this high before, and Karyn wasn’t sure if the straps were always this intricate.

Then there was the underwear…

“Gotta have the aesthetic of a wish-granting goddess, I guess, '' Karyn grumbled to herself. “It sucks I can’t even be, like, all-knowing or whatever…”

She stopped and winced. Her voice was sounding more and more like Sarah’s, vapid language included.

She needed to find Jon-boy.

“OMG!! Sarah! Like, hi!!!”

Or deal with more bullshit. That was fine, too. Karyn spun around to see Tiffany Sanders rushing over, and her internal scowl deepened, helpless as the world itself shuddered.

“Tiff!!” Sarah said, completely oblivious to the idea she could have ever been anyone else. “You’re, like, soooo hawt today!”

“Don’t even say that, babe. I mean, like, really? Have you seen a mirror lately?” A pause. Tiff’s smile faltered. Her eyes widened. “No, seriously… You haven’t always looked this good, rite? It’s like you’re a photo…”

Sarah giggled. Everyone was acting so weird and obsessed with her today. And honestly? She was kinda loving it.

“Course not, Tiff! You know I’m just that pretty.”

Again, the world shuddered. Tiffany’s expression glazed over. Then, just as quickly, she was beaming. “Oh rite, you do! Same ol’ perfect Sarah, like always. Gosh, I’m such a dum-dum sometimes.”

“Sometimes! But that’s what makes you, like, so darn cute.” And easy to manipulate. But, sure, Sarah thought she was cute too. “I’ll meet you in lunch, ‘kay? I have to go find some nerd.”

“Kk! I’ll see you later, bestie!” Tiff didn’t even question the statement. She just skipped off to class like Sarah told her too.

A third time, the world shuddered.

Karyn peered down and frowned. She didn't love how her body held itself. Chest out, hips cocked, arms held just so; it was like Sarah felt more natural posing than standing like a normal goddamn person.

Should Karyn even bother correcting it? It’d happen again, after all. The next time someone decided to talk to her.

And she was Sarah McMillan now. Everyone wanted to talk to her.

Karyn let out a deep sigh. “One class, Karyn. Then Jon can fix this. You can handle thinking and acting like a bimbo til then… Right?”

Karyn charged down the school halls, late for class and looking better than she did in her entire life. In part her body—Golden hair, perfect curves, mesmerizing red eyes—but in part to the clothes, too.

…Come to think of it, Karyn didn’t actually remember owning a long flowy summer cardigan. Same color as her favorite sweater, wherever that went, but this was more... Whimsical? The damn thing billowed constantly, and was adamant to leave one shoulder uncovered at all times. She didn’t remember these particular jeans, either. Light blue color and sticking to her legs like paint, covered in a feather-like embroidery that seemed to rise and fall as she walked.

Ah well.

Everyone was being a goddamn roadblock today, so that was annoying.

“Karyn! We never talked before, but wanna hang out later? Couldn’t help but realize how—”

“No.”

“Hey cutie! You’re looking fine today—”

“No!”

“Karyn! Can I bug you about your DnD character? I had some ideas for your backstory—”

I said no! I mean—of course, Larry. But later!”

And it was only when Karyn got away from the crowd that she could take a deep breath and remember something vaguely important.

Oh yeah, she was Sarah McMillan.

Wait. crap, she was Sarah McMillan.

“What is happening?” Sarah all but shouted to herself, glancing around and making sure there wasn't anyone else to trigger the… Change?

She wanted to find Biff. Tell him about the rock, have him beat up Jon. It was a flawless plan, honestly, with no chance of going wrong in any way… If it weren’t for the whole “completely forgetting who she was whenever someone talked to her” thing.

No, it was alright. She was Sarah McMillan, after all. The real Sarah McMillan. And things were already going her way, with how she interpreted the wish last night. All she needed was the right opportunity.
