...a slightly metallic stone with a reddish hue to its surface.
"That's it. It looks like something I could buy at a souvenir stand for a
dollar," observed Rebecca. She reached for the stone, only for Cindy to abruptly close her hand.
"Whoa, not yet," warned Cindy, "Touching the rock is partially how the magic works."
Rebecca rolled her eyes. "Really, Cindy?"
"Yes really, Rebecca. Whenever you touch this rock any wish that you say out loud comes true. I found it about a week ago just lying on the ground outside of the mall. But I didn't find out about it granting wishes until yesterday morning when I wished that I had a brand new pair of dress shoes while holding it. Since then I've been on a wish shopping spree. You wouldn't believe all of the new clothes and electronics that I have in my room now."
Rebecca smirked. She had been in Cindy's room before and she did have just about everything a teenage girl could ever want but this was more likely from parents that couldn't say no as opposed to a magic stone.
On the other hand Jim, currently in the form of Rebeccas cell phone, was a little more receptive of the idea of a wish granting stone. "Why couldn't Jim have found that instead of that fucking leprechaun?"
"Alright Cindy, I'll humor you. If you really have wished up all kinds of good stuff have your parents asked you where you got all of it from?"
"That's what's really cool. Everybody that doesn't hear my wishes doesn't notice anything different so my parents think that they bought all of that stuff for me."
"Ok! Ok! How about giving me a demonstration? Something impressive that could only be done by magic."
"Alright, how about...."
