When Jim looked up, he saw himself! He had forgotten before, but now he remembered that he got to the dance late because he had car trouble.
His past self looked down at him in total shock. "Who ... who are you?"
Jim scooted back, got up, and then ran away, looking back only once and seeing his past self still staring at him.
Rick didn't say what would happen if he made contact with his past self. He had seen movies where the universe blows up because a time traveler meets himself. As he ran away, Jim hoped that something bad like that didn't happen.
