When Rick arrived, they immediately retreated into Jim's room and closed the door. They then started playing a relatively quiet, if still violent game.

Once they'd started playing, Jim started the conversation by asking, "So how'd you know I was in trouble last night?"

Rick concentrated on the game for a minute, and answered, "Well, I heard Mom talking to Rebecca last night, and asking why Kim didn't drive her home. I couldn't think who Kim was, so I asked my Mom who she was talking about, and she looked at me like I had two heads. 'Uh, your best friend that you don't date? The one you keep saying would be like dating your sister? Ring any bells?' I realized then that things must be pretty serious and figured that I better do something quick, even though I hadn't gotten a chance to see you dressed up. You gotta let me get a few pictures of you in that outfit, though, sometime soon."

"Oh, man. What do you think I am? Your toy? Gimme a break."

Rick used the distraction to kill Jim in the game, saying, "Ha! Suck-eeeer!"

"Aw, man. I thought you were serious."

"You're my friend, dude. I wouldn't do that to you. Although I really would like to see you like that."

"I'll think about it. But definitely not in the next few days. I don't want that to become a permanent situation," Jim assured him.

"So you won't be seeing Beth in the next few days?"

Jim answered, "I don't know. We haven't made any plans yet."

"What'd you all do last night, anyway? You do anything after dinner?"

"No, she had to leave a little early. We kissed and went home." As soon as he said it, Jim knew that he shouldn't have mentioned that. Now he was going to have a whole new round of questions.

As if to fulfill his premonition, the next words out of Rick's mouth were, "You kissed her already! You dog! Is she a good kisser."

"A gentleman never kissses and tells," Jim reminded him.

"With you smiling like that, she must be quite good," Rick said with a laugh.

"I have nothing further to say on this," said a blushing Jim.

"You didn't do anything else? Did you touch her anywhere?"

Blushing even more, Jim cried, "Give it a rest, man!"

Just then, they heard Jim's mom downstairs, "Jim, are you having a friend over."

As they heard her footsteps getting closer, Jim called back, "Yes, mom. Rick's here."

She opened the door to the room. "Sorry Rick, Jim's in trouble and should have known better than to invite you over today. You'll have to go."

"It's alright, Mrs Bennet. I understand." Turning back to Jim, he said, "I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow. Bye, Mrs Bennet."

Rick let himself out while Jim was getting chewed out. _Sounds like he'll be doing chores the rest of the day. Guess I'll see what Tom's up to."
