Hearing footsteps approaching, Rick jumped over to the door and shut it. Almost immediately, there was a knock at the door. "Rick," they heard Rebecca saying through the door, "When did you get home? I didn't hear you come in."
"We just got in," Rick replied.
"We?!?" Rick had backed away from the door, and hence, wasn't in position to keep her from pushing it open. She looked in and saw Jim, and said, "You are sooo dead. You know you can't have girls in here when Mom and Dad aren't home." Then she looked back at Jim. "And what are you two doing so dressed up?"
"We were talking about going dancing later," replied Rick.
Rebecca conspicuously sniffed, and said, "It smells like you've already been."
Trying to get her off that train of thought, Jim asked, "Rebecca, right?" At her nod, he continued, "Do you have a classmate named Beth Wu?"
She smiled at that, and answered, "Yeah, I was just going to go meet her for lunch. You want to come with me...?"
"Kim," he answered. "Yes, I'd love to. Although I need to change first. How soon did you want to go?"
"Ten minutes," she answered, with a twinkle in her eye. She left, closing the door behind her, her earlier importuning seemingly forgotten.
