Speaking of Nadine, both she and her best friend Tina were back in their cell, awaiting their punishment - by now, Dani was a distant memory. In fact, now that she remembered it, it was Tina who had shown up at her apartment earlier that night, telling her to get her shit together and get to work. Why Tina was so apprehensive about being a hooker now was beyond her. Even now, Tina was trying to convince Nadine that this wasn't their life, that they were supposed to be a couple of Bible-thumping prudes. Imagine that! Nadine Stuart, the best prostitute that Deshan had to offer, as not only a prude, but also a virgin ... and a teenager? Nadine was in her early 20's. And so was Tina ... although, for some reason, she looked younger than that. Odd. Tina insisted that they were both supposed to be in high school, but that was complete bullshit. Nadine remembered being in high school years ago, before she dropped out and found her way to Deshan. She vaguely remembered Tina following in her footsteps. So if she could remember all of that, then why couldn't Tina?
"Come on, Nadine. You've gotta snap out of it," Tina pleaded. "You have to know that none of this should be happening. I mean, what about that Dani girl? You said that she disappeared when ..."
"Dani? Who's Dani?" Nadine asked, the memory of Dani (a girl she only knew for a short time, really) now totally gone from her memory.
