Excitedly, Jon clutched the stone and said "I wish that one to four people, that I do like or will like and who do like or will like me and who also have the natural level of responsibility needed to use this stone wisely, would materialize in my room in next minute and while they won't know how they got here, they won't question it. I wish that this person or people would fully believe me when I tell them about the wishing stone."
With that, Jon sat on his bed and waited. He didn't have to wait long, though, as only a minute later, two figures started to appear. As they came into focus Jon saw that it was ... himself and Karyn?
"Hey, what's going on?" the other Jon asked. He turned towards Karyn. "Did you use the stone to make a copy of me?"
"No. I don't even have the stone," Karyn said. "You wouldn't let me have it, remember? You think I was a klutz for making that wish."
"Hey, how do you know that?" the real Jon asked.
"Because you told me."
Suddenly, the phone rang. Jon picked it up and answered it.
"Hey, Jon." It was Karyn. "You wanna hang out at the mall?"
How could this be? Karyn was standing right in front of him. Or was she? Maybe he hadn't just made a new version of himself, but also a new version of Karyn. But, whereas the normal Karyn knew nothing of the wishing stone (because of one of Jon's wishes), this "new" Karyn did.
"Sure," Jon finally said. "But I have something to take care of here first."
"Well, I could meet you at your house. Then we could walk to the mall together."
"I don't think ..."
"I'll see you in a half an hour," Karyn said. Then the line went dead.
"Great," Jon said. "Now Karyn is coming over."
"Jon, I'm already here," the other Karyn said. Apparently, she thought she was the real Karyn.
Jon slapped his forehead, in frustration. He couldn't let Karyn see any of this. He went out of his way to make sure she forgot about the stone. What was he going to do?
