Katie wasn't sure where she was or how she came into possession of a purse full of such horrible things, or more importantly, how these too-revealing clothes or the tattoos had gotten on her, but more than anything, she wanted out of there and back to the safety of her house in her own neighborhood.
"Yo, Kat! Over here," came a man's voice. Was he talking to her? She had never gone by the name Kat, but that was a form of her name ...
She turned and looked over at a thuggish-looking black man wearing a hoodie. There were two others there too, one man and one woman. As she approached them, she wondered why she wasn't running away in the other direction. After all, she wasn't the type to associate with these types of people. But the closer she got, the more familiar they became, which confused her. Where did she know these people from?
"It's about time you showed up, chica," the woman said. It was dark, but she kind of looked Latin American and had far more tattoos on her body than Katie had seen on her own. "What are you waiting for? Get your ass over here," she said, getting annoyed by Katie's slow walk towards them.
"Yeah, move yo ass! We on da clock," the black man said. Then he turned towards the other man there. "Devon, you ready?"
The white lanky guy with the long straggly hair nodded. "As much as I'll ever be. Let's get this show started."
As Katie slowly got closer to them, memories popped into her head. From where, she had no idea, but she suddenly knew these people's names and where she knew them from. The black guy's name was Jackson Richards, but people just called him Jack. The lanky white guy's name was Devon Murphy and he was an explosives expert. And the Latina was Sophia Mendez, Katie's cellmate from prison. Wait, no ... prison? Katie was never in prison. Except ... she had a brief memory of sharing a cell with Sophia. Katie stopped walking and grabbed her head.
"Yo, Kat! What's wrong?" Jack asked. "You ain't havin' second thoughts, is ya?"
"No," Katie said, although she had no idea what they were even planning to do. Though, that wasn't entirely true. They were obviously going to steal something. That's what Kat and her crew did, after all. Wait ... Katie was a thief? No, she would never do anything like ...
"Den get yo ass movin', girl," Jack pushed. "The score from dis heist will set us up for life."
