Allison looked up at Karyn. She was crying. "Karyn, help me. I don't want to become like them."
As far as Karyn knew, she couldn't help her. Unless she got her hands on the wishing stone, but right now Derek had it.
Karyn helplessly watched Allison change before her eyes. Her pink halter top turned into a black T-shirt, displaying a logo of a 70's rock band, her miniskirt turned to denim, then became a pair of jeans with a studded belt, and her heels turned into worn sneakers. Her skin turned pale and her brown hair became unkempt, falling over face in a very emo way. Then her demeanor changed. Just like the emos in the school, Allison seemed downtrodden.
"Come on, let's get out of here," Karyn said, pulling Allison with her.
But Allison shrugged her off. "Get away from me."
"Allison, you need help. I can at least try to help you, if no one else will."
"I don't need help. But you do."
"What?"
"You have to stop hiding behind your fake happiness. Life is misery. There's nothing to be happy about. Let me help you see the truth."
"Whatever. Come on," Karyn said, pulling Allison harder this time.
