Jon walked to his locker, hands in pockets and his head hung downwards, letting his longer hair hide more of his face. He had come to school hundreds of times before, but they were never as hard as this time. It had been at least five minutes since he cried over his grandfather's death, but his sorrow was still there and he began to realize that it would never leave him. He would be this way for the rest of his life, in a constant state of pain.
He reluctantly opened his locker and realized that he didn't have his books with him from home. Yet another problem to be afflicted with. Why did everything bad always have to happen to him?
"Hey," a boy said. "Why are you in Jon's locker?"
Jon turned his head. He saw Tim, a friend of his and Karyn's. Well, he was before. Now Jon's friends were Derek, Chris, and Steve.
Tim recognized Jon's face, but was shocked by his overall appearance. "Jon?"
"My name isn't Jon anymore. It's Agony." Then he turned back to his locker.
Tim grabbed his arm and pulled him back. "What's happened to you?"
Jon looked at him with his right eye, which seemed lazy, almost like he was drugged. But, really, he was just depressed. "I've discovered the truth."
"Truth? What truth?"
"That life is nothing but misery."
"Jon. You're not making any sense."
Suddenly, Tim got grabbed from behind. Jon looked straight at him and said "Soon, you'll know the truth too."
"What do you mean?" Tim asked, while being dragged away. He tried to squirm away, but the two guys holding him had a good grip on him and Tim wasn't exactly the strongest guy around.
He was pulled into a nearby janitor's closet. Once inside, he saw three emo boys towering over him, the two that grabbed him and one more who he recognized as Derek Lettman.
"What is this? What's going on?" Tim asked.
"Soon, you'll understand exactly what's going on," Derek said.
Then he cut Tim with the black razor.
Meanwhile, Karyn was arriving at the place where she and Jon usually meet. It was in a secluded spot, but near the school. But he wasn't there. She waited a few minutes, but he still didn't show up. She tried to call him on her phone, but he didn't answer. She began to think that maybe he was in trouble.
