When Jon made it to the school, he scanned the grounds for Karyn, but he didn't see her. But he did see a couple of guys dressed in black standing near the edge of the forest that bordered the school's property. Slowly, he walked towards them, hoping to not be noticed. But, unfortunately, he was noticed the moment he got near the school.
As Jon got closer, he identified one of the two guys as Derek. The other he assumed was Chris. He couldn't get a good look at him, because of all the trees.
In another few seconds Jon would have been close enough to grab Derek and force him to give the stone back, but before he could, Jon got grabbed from behind. He got pulled into the forest and pushed down to the ground. Looking up, he saw three emo boys. One was Derek, one was Chris (it was too weird to see him like this), but he couldn't recognize the third one. His black hair fell across his face, hiding everything except his mouth. He wore a tight dark blue T-shirt with a picture of a dinosaur skeleton printed on the front, tight blue jeans with a studded belt, and dirty worn sneakers. He was pale and very thin.
"Who's that?" Jon asked.
"What? Don't you recognize Steve Farber?" Derek asked. "Of course, now he's going by the name Slash."
Jon looked back at the emo boy he didn't recognize. Could it be that it really was Steve? He looked so different. He certainly wouldn't be able to get the girls now.
"I know you have the stone, Derek. Give it back."
"Oh, I don't think so. I think I'm gonna keep it. I mean, there's not much you can do about it," Derek said, as he took something out of his pocket. At first, Jon thought it was the stone, but it wasn't. Instead, it appeared to be a black razor blade. "Hold him."
Chris and Steve bent down and held Jon so that he couldn't get away.
Then he was cut.
