Derek and Chris stood at the edge of the forest that lined the school property. They watched a few students milling about. School wouldn't start for another hour, so a lot of kids weren't there yet.
Derek thought about who he wanted to make his next friend. He supposed it didn't really matter, but he wanted someone ... well, popular. It wasn't about revenge, he just thought it would be a good idea if he could make someone from the popular crowd see things the way he saw things. What was the harm in getting a better perspective on things? He already had Chris, but that was only done as a test and it was just a spur of the moment decision. This time he'd put more thought into it.
Meanwhile, Karyn walked up to Chris Morgan's house. It was a nice white two-level house. She knocked on the door and a woman answered it.
"Oh, uh, hello. I was just wondering if Chris was here."
"No, sorry. He's already left for school."
"Oh. Okay."
Karyn called Jon to tell him what she found out and told him that she was going to check the school. Jon hadn't gotten to Derek's house yet, since it was further away, but he promised that he'd meet her at the school after he checked out what was what at Derek's house.
