Before Nadine could get to the stone, however, Sabrina mouthed the words "I wish I knew how to help Karyn. I didn't mean for her to get mixed up in all this." As Nadine watched, she saw the stone glow. That confirmed it. That stone really was magic. Nadine smiled and moved in closer.
"Oh. Hi, Nadine," Sabrina said, noticing the "new" Goth girl approaching her.
"Hi, Sabrina," Nadine said. Inside her mind, the real Nadine was screaming as loudly as she could. She's trying to steal your stone!! But again, it was no use. No matter how loud thoughts were, they were still thoughts.
"Did you need something?" Sabrina asked.
"Actually, yeah," Nadine said, with a smirk. She didn't waste any time with trivial chitchat. With one swoop of her hand, she hit Sabrina's arm, causing the stone to fall to the floor. And before Sabrina could figure out what was happening, Nadine was reaching down for it.
