Just like the previous time, Karyn was forced to close her eyes after making a wish. And when she opened them, she saw that she was somewhere else. Not outside, but rather in a bedroom. From under the covers of the bed, she looked around and immediately recognized the room. It was Jon's room. But at the same time, it wasn't. The room was definitely his, but the belongings were definitely hers.
Confused by how the stone might have granted her wish, Karyn slowly pulled back her covers and got out of bed.
After looking at herself in the bedroom mirror, she got a little bit of a shock. She still had her "enhancements" from her first wish, so that hadn't changed. But what did change was her face. She almost looked like a female version of Jon. Or maybe his twin sister? Was that it? Was Karyn now part of Jon's family?
"What's happening?" she asked aloud. Fortunately, her voice hadn't changed. She turned around and saw the wishing stone sitting on the nightstand. At least she had the stone with her. Given her circumstance, she figured that it wouldn't have come with her.
Why did the stone do this to me? she wondered. Then she remembered her wish. She wanted to be the owner of the stone, so the stone must have made her part of Jon's family, because the only reason Jon owned the stone was because he inherited it from his grandfather. Now Jon's grandfather was also Karyn's grandfather! The stone was now her inheritance.
She grabbed her head. This wasn't what she wanted. She thought her wish would just change Jon's memory or something. But what happened instead was nearly disastrous. She couldn't live with Jon's family. What about her own family? Did they just forget that she even existed?
Then a thought suddenly occurred to her. Was Jon even still around? What if the stone didn't just add her into the family, but also replaced Jon with her?
"Karyn! Time to get up for school!" she heard Jon's mom yell from out in the hall.
