Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
"I wonder who it could, so early in the morning. Jon, answer it, won't you?" Jon's mom asked.
Karyn opened the door and saw herself standing on the front porch. It was so eerie, like looking at herself in a mirror.
"Hi, Jon. Can I come in? I was hoping to use the stone again to fix my ... uh ... problem," she said, pointing at her chest.
Karyn looked at her a moment longer. Why was Jon acting like that? It was almost like he thought he was her. Then a thought occurred to her. Jon didn't hear her wish, so maybe he thought that he was supposed to be Karyn. Then what happened to Jon, specifically his mind? Was it gone forever? Suddenly, a body swap didn't seem all that hopeful after all.
"Jon?" she asked. "Are you okay?"
"Uh ... yeah," Karyn said, letting herself in.
As they walked up to Jon's bedroom, Karyn wondered if there was a way to get Jon's mind back. Sure, it would be his mind in her body, but the way things were, it was almost like there were two Karyns. One in Karyn's body and one in Jon's. She had to fix this, somehow.
