"So, what do you think?" Wallace Richardson asked. He was a nerd that had a crush on Kyla.
"I ... uh ... I'll think about it," she answered. Wallace was a nice enough guy, but sometimes he could be a little forceful towards her. She felt like she was being pressured into something that she didn't really want.
Wallace smiled brightly.
"The answer isn't 'yes'. I just said I'll think about it," Kyla said, wanting to clarify. But he still smiled anyway and continued to, as he walked away.
She didn't say 'yes'. Going on a date with Wallace was a big decision. She couldn't just give him an answer right away. She had to think about it. Well, okay, she really wanted to tell him 'no', but she wanted to figure out a way to let him down easily instead of just bluntly telling him.
Wallace looked over his shoulder at his dream girl. Kyla may not have been as sexy as the popular girls, but she was pretty enough ... and more importantly, she was smart. He really liked smart girls. Someone who was on his level. She may not have said 'yes' to his proposal, but she didn't say 'no' either. He had a chance! And that was better than nothing.
He watched Kyla walk down the hall and stop near the water fountain. She then grabbed something yellow off the wall, paused for a moment, and then threw it in the trash.
Wallace was about to turn back around and walk to his locker, but before he could, he was suddenly hit by a wave of dizziness.
