Athena began darting around, moving to avoid accidentally spotting anyone. She finally got to the side door, the least public of the exits, and was about to breathe a sigh of relief when a voice asked "What are you doing here?"
Startled, she looked up to see two members of the cheerleading squad looking at her. They were Melissa Smith and Jessica Davis.
Athena suddenly felt dizzy and fell against a wall. She could sense herself at the center of the spell, like the eye of a hurricane. A change in local reality spreading out around her ... and into her.
"Can you believe how well Gladys is doing?" Melissa asked her. "I think she's even better than Sarah."
Oh, shit, Athena thought. It was just what she feared would happen when she saw Sarah McMillan in the girls' restroom. She had to get herself alone and see what had been done to her.
