Athena didn't arrive home until late that night. She figured there would be less people around at night and with the lack of light, "groups" of people would be harder to see. And as it turned out, she was very wise. Now, it was just a matter of getting all her friends to come over to her house, so she could outwit the sticky note. It was past ten o'clock by then, but her friends had (at one point or another) stayed out past midnight (to their parents' discontent). So it wasn't too late.
Biff sat on his bed, recollecting the extremely awkward dinner he shared with his family. His mother asked him about his project for the science fair, to which he had nothing to say, of course. He didn't even know he had a project for it. And aside from that, he didn't even care. The science fair was for losers and dweebs. He may have looked like a dweeb now, but he wasn't going to live like one. Anyway, after Biff refused to talk about it, his father moved on and asked his brother Wesley about his day, as if his life was more interesting than Biff's. But the more he learned about his new life, the more he believed that that was the truth.
Mikey sat on his bed, thinking about the various notes he placed around the high school and wondered why he wasn't seeing more of a change in reality, like he expected. Using the stone, he made sure that he'd always notice if something had changed as a result of someone reading the notes. But so far, the only difference he noticed was that his sister had a friend named Nadine. He was sure she didn't before.
He laid back on his bed and went to sleep, hoping that something more substantial would happen the next day.
Nadine sat on the park bench shivering. She had tried to make peace with her parents, but her father was quite firm in his decision. The fact that she was still dressed as a witch didn't help either.
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was ringing earlier, but she ignored it. This time, however, she didn't.
"Hello?"
"Nadine! Thank god. I thought something happened to you." It was Zoe. "Where are you?"
"Chesapeake Park."
"What are you doing there?"
"Freezing to death, that's what."
"Why didn't you just go home?"
"I tried to, but my ..." She paused, realizing that Zoe meant Athena's home. "I ... uh ... don't remember where it is."
There was silence on the other end.
"Zoe?" she asked. "Are you there?" She started to get worried. In her current situation, talking with Zoe was like a lifeline. She didn't even care that Zoe was a Goth.
"I'm here," Zoe answered.
Nadine sighed with relief.
"I'm just trying to figure out why you're acting so strange. I thought that maybe it was just morning sleepiness, but you're still acting strange even now. And you seem to be having memory problems. I know you don't like doctors, but maybe you should make an appointment. You ..."
"Okay," she said, but only to stop Zoe from continuing. "Just, tell me where Athena lives."
"I'll do one better. I'll show you. Athena asked me to come over anyway. I could just meet up with you at the park and then we can go together."
"Okay," Nadine said.
She'd do anything to get out of this cold.
