"I'm so sorry I made fun of you, Athena," Nadine suddenly said, taking Athena by surprise. "Can we be friends?" she timidly asked, with a small grin slowly forming.
"I don't think so. We don't even have anything in common, first of all," Athena said. And, not counting this new reality where Nadine was a Goth, that was true.
"Maybe we can. I'm willing to make the effort, if you are."
Athena was still stunned by Nadine's change in attitude. But then she remembered the note. She was forced to wish that the last person who teased her would do anything to be her friend. The last person who teased her must have been Nadine!
Suddenly, Athena smiled. This turn of events wasn't really all that bad. She could make Nadine do anything, even embarrass herself, as long as she promised they could be friends. And in the end, she'd get the perfect friend, one of her own design.
