"Simone, are you alright?" Rick Sheppard (the assistant principal) asked, walking into the room. "I thought I heard someone cry out."
Simone didn't answer him. She just kept staring at her new nameplate. "I'm married," she muttered to herself, trying to process that and everything else that had happened.
"They still didn't fix that?" Rick asked, grabbing the nameplate out of her hands.
"Huh?"
"Your nameplate is wrong, remember? It's supposed to say 'Ms. Simone Davison'. Last time I checked, you're not married, Simone."
Simone felt relieved. But there was still the problem with her gender. It was obvious that both she and her secretary noticed a difference. But Rick acted like it was normal for her to be a woman. How would everyone else react?
