Steve looked for the note as best he could, but it was gone. And he figured he wouldn't be seeing it again any time soon.
With nothing else to do, he decided to go to his locker and get his books for his first class. But when he opened his locker door, he got another shock. All the contents inside were different. Now there were magazine cutouts of various bands (some of which Steve had never heard of), an old photo of him and a girl (maybe when he was twelve?), and a diary that he had never seen before, with a bunch of skulls drawn all over it. On the inside of his locker door was the mirror that was always there, except that this time it was showing a different reflection.
His eyes went wide when he noticed his hair. The strands that had draped down just past his left eye, as he had seen in the restroom a few minutes before, had grown longer, now ending near the corner of his mouth. And what was more, now the strands seemed denser, draping over his entire left eye and most of his nose. He didn't even notice until now that he was only looking out of one eye. He tried sweeping the hair away from his face, but this time it did no good. It just fell back.
And another thing he noticed were his nails. They were painted black. He was absolutely sure they weren't a few minutes before.
Now he really did look like an emo.
He quickly grabbed his books and left for his first class, trying to keep to the shadows so that no one would spot him. He was already embarrassed as he was.
