"Come on, Yukio. I can tell something's wrong. You're not fooling me," Jessica said.
"Well ... it's hard to explain. And ... well ... I'm not sure you'll believe me."
"Why wouldn't I believe you?"
Yukio took a deep breath, then said "Just a few minutes ago I ... uh ... wasn't me. I mean, how I am now."
Jessica looked like she didn't understand.
"I told you it was hard to explain. Look, things are different now. I'm your friend. And I'm not teased. But Melissa is."
"Melissa? You mean Melissa Smith? That girl from Romania?"
"Romania?"
"Yeah, I think that's where she comes from. I mean, her accent makes her sound like Dracula's bride. You'd think that she'd be able to talk right by now. She's been here for more than a year."
"Dracula's bride?" Yukio said to herself, thinking about the names Melissa used to call her.
"Yukio," Jessica said. Then she repeated herself, breaking Yukio out of her thoughts.
"Yes?"
"Ever since Melissa came here, she's been teased. Are you sure you didn't just have a bad dream last night and are just remembering parts of it? You know, getting it confused with real life?"
"No. Things were different. And it wasn't last night. It was today, just a few minutes ago!"
"Okay, okay," Jessica said. "You don't have to yell. It's just that ... well ... it just sounds a little too far-fetched, that's all."
"I know. But ... it's what happened." Yukio paused, then her face lit up, as she thought of an idea. "We could talk with Melissa. She'll back me up. I'm sure of it."
"Talk with Melissa? That'll be hoot," Jessica said. "Dracula's bride can barely put together a sentence right. Might as well talk to a dog."
Meanwhile, Melissa was still trying to figure out what was happening.
