Nadine grabbed the note. Not because she wanted to read it, but because her curiosity of the "magic note" outweighed her common sense.
But when the note got close enough to her, Nadine felt compelled to read it anyways. "I wish that I would turn into whatever name I call someone, for six hours."
Then, without thinking about it, she crumpled up the note and tossed it into a nearby trash can.
"Hey, why did you throw that way?" Athena asked. "I still need to examine it. It's using some very powerful magic."
Nadine groaned inwardly. She didn't think she could tolerate this Goth girl anymore. She tried to deal with the situation as best she could, but enough was enough. All this talk of spells and magic snapped Nadine back to reality. Athena was a bad influence on her and the sooner Nadine got away from her the better.
"Keep your spells and magic to yourself, you witch. Just leave me out of it."
Suddenly, Nadine felt dizzy, just like she had right before she became a Goth. It was happening again. But why?
She thought back to the wish she just made and realized what was happening. She said the word WITCH! That meant that for the next six hours, she'd ...
Then it hit her, like a ton of bricks. Knowledge, in the form of words and images, bombarded her mind. And in no time at all, she understood how to cast spells and use magic.
"Oh my Lord, I'm a witch," she cried.
"Tell us something we don't know," Jay said.
"What?" Nadine asked. But then she remembered how the note worked. Anyone not associated with the wish would have their memories changed to fit the new reality (whether they heard the wish or not). And the only ones associated with this wish were Nadine and Athena. Everyone else thought that Nadine was supposed to be a witch, or at least they suspected it.
