Athena opened her locker and noticed how different it looked inside. Her journal was gone, replaced by a leather-bound bible. And hanging on the back of the locker was a wooden cross. The photos on the inside of the door changed as well. Now they showed herself and two others. One was Tina, the other was a boy she didn't recognize. They were either standing or sitting in the grass, wearing formal clothes. A church was clearly seen in the background.
"Hey, Jesus freak," a girl yelled out towards Athena. She turned and saw Sarah McMillan walking towards her, along with a couple of her cheerleader friends.
"What do you want?" Athena asked. Didn't Sarah have anything better to do than to pick on other people?
"Just wanted to give you a little heads up," she said, with a smirk. She made that certain expression only when she knew she was doing something devious. So whatever she wanted to tell Athena was certainly not something good. "The school has banned you and your friends from doing your church stuff on school grounds."
"What? Why?" Truthfully, usually she wouldn't have gotten so upset by it. But ever since that wish changed her, she had become overly sensitive to these sorts of issues.
"You and your friends are a distraction," Sarah explained. "Me and the rest of the cheerleaders can't practice right with all of you doing your God stuff."
"The school banned us because you can't do your cheerleading practice while seeing us?" That was one of the dumbest things Athena had ever heard. How exactly were Athena and her friends (her new friends) a distraction anyway?
"I'm glad you understand," Sarah said. "Later, Jesus freak." That was what she always called Nadine before. And Nadine hated it just as much as Athena did now.
Athena glared at Sarah, as she walked away. Tina came up from behind her. "What did she want?"
"That bitch," Athena hissed.
"Whoa, watch your language, Athena."
"She got the school to ban us from doing our bible study."
"What? She can't do that."
"She's Sarah McMillan. She's popular, she's rich, her parents have a lot of influence. She can do whatever she wants."
"Well, that doesn't mean that we can't have bible study anyway. We'll just do it somewhere else."
Athena continued to glare at Sarah. "She shouldn't get away with this."
"It'll be alright," Tina said, putting her hand on Athena's shoulder.
Athena broke off her stare and looked at Tina. "Yeah. Uh ... of course."
Tina smiled. "We better get to class." Right after she said that, the first bell rang, signifying that all students had ten minutes to get to class.
"Uh ... right." She grabbed her stuff for first period and closed her locker door. On her way to her class, she saw Sarah again, laughing with her friends. In her new condition, she knew that revenge was wrong. But she still had her memories of being a Goth and that part of her (that very small part of her) was working up a plan to get back at Sarah for what she had done.
