When Sophie came to, she was lying on the floor with her head resting in Biff's lap.
"Hey, baby. Are you alright?" Biff asked, looking down at her.
She scrambled to her feet and looked around. Some of Sarah's friends were there too, the same ones that laughed at her earlier. But this time, they looked concerned ... for her.
"What's going on? Is this some sort of prank?" she asked.
"What do you mean?" Biff asked.
She pointed at her locker. "How did you get my combination?"
The girls looked at each other, confused as to what Sophie was talking about.
"Someone put Sarah's stuff in my locker," she said, having to apparently explain.
"Sarah?" Biff asked. "Sarah who?"
"Sarah McMillan!" Sophie yelled. This prank had gone on far enough.
"You mean that dorky girl?" Biff asked.
"Yeah, I don't think someone like her would have possessions like those," one of the girls said. Then the other girls laughed and talked about how ridiculous it was to think of Sarah McMillan as anything other than a dweeb.
Sophie stood in silence. What was happening? If this was a prank, it was a weird one. No one ever said anything bad about Sarah, least of all her friends. No, something else was going on. But what?
