... and he opened the door to greet them.
His friends? Well, he supposed they were, but it wasn't who he had expected. There was Laura, a redheaded girl from his class, and Ellen, a small brunette.
"Hi?" he said, puzzled.
"Benny?" replied Laura.
"I wasn't expecting to see you guys here."
"But we said we were going to go to the mall... right?"
"I guess," said Benny. "I was expecting, I don't know, Andrew?"
"Like I don't think he likes you," replied Laura. "he makes fun of your chest size enough."
"But I'm..." replied Benny. "I don't get it. All I did was read a note. And all of a sudden..."
"Wow," said Laura. "Andrew sent you a note? You're really becoming popular, Benny. I can just imagine the invitations to the Andrew/Bernadette wedding."
"But my name isn't... I'm not... Argh. Never mind. I don't know what's going on, but let's go to the mall, okay? I'll have to figure this out later."
It would have been a lot easier to figure out, needless to say, if he had known just what Mikey had wished for. Mikey had wished that those involved in the wish would notice the changes... because if the wish worked like other wishes did, normally everyone else would not notice the changes. The only people who knew what had happened to Benny were his family (since the note specifically said his family would remember reality from before the wish) and those involved in the wish (which was just him and his sister anyway).
As far as everyone else was concerned, Benny, his sister, and his parents had always been the way they were. He was still going to the mall with his friends, but now he was a girl hanging out with other girls....
