"Very nice choice of clothes, son," Jason's dad remarked, nodding appreciatively at the heels and short shorts. Jason nodded back, smiling.
"Thanks, Dad," he replied, no longer very bothered by the attention he was given - yesterday was more than enough to get used to. He sat down at the table and ate his fill from what was already placed there, finishing just in time to catch the bus. All but running out, he hopped on the bus to stares and hushed whispers, only bits of which he could catch.
"So it's true... wonder how it happened? It's like that kid Becky... she used to be named Benny..."
Becky! Jason realized as he sat down, enjoying the feeling of his new butt on the bus seat. I forgot after yesterday... I need to talk to her, maybe we can fix this. It's kinda fun but it's only a matter of time...
The boy next to him was staring openly at him, seemingly unsure what to say. Finally, he blurted out, "Are you still a boy?"
Jason stared at him and laughed, along with most of the rest of the bus, and said, "Yeah. I am."
The rest of the bus ride was in relative peace, and the moment Jason got to school he began scanning the school for Becky. Nothing. Oh well, I'll see her in class anyway.
