There was one thing he could change, in fact....
"Zoe," said Jon. "I fixed some of this. Do you want me to do it to you, too?"
"I don't know," said the goth boy. "What exactly do you mean?"
"I couldn't become Jon completely. But I could become as Jon as possible. I could do the same thing to you... you could have a girl's body, even though I couldn't just make you completely female."
"So I'd become a she-male? Like in your porn?"
"Well, uh... pretty much. But I could add a wish so that people don't think of you strangely."
"Well, thanks, Jon, but... no thanks. As far as everything goes there's nothing unusual about me now. Would it be better to be the wrong sex, or to be half and half? Especially since you can't reverse wishes, right? If you fix this by making me a she-male, I'm stuck as one. I can't go back to just being a guy. Let's wait a while. At least a week and probably a lot more. Maybe you'll come up with something better."
Jon wasn't sure what people would think at school. When he had become a girl, his room and clothes had changed. On the other hand, everyone still remembered Jon, even people who didn't see or hear the wish made on the note. Did they forget or not?
He had come to school with Karyn, but the first person he had seen other than her and the bus driver was Joseph. "Hi Jon," he said. Joseph gave his belly a long, suspicious look, pointed, and said "I'm sure there's a good story behind that."
Jon nodded. "Sure. My brother Mikey wished for these magic sticky notes and... I mean... Put it this way. By magic, I now have the sex organs of a girl. A pregnant girl. I'm expecting twins."
Joseph thought about it and replied, "I've never heard of anything like that. So you're a girl now?"
"It depends on what you mean. If you want to know whether I have a penis or a womb and vagina, I'm a girl. Other than that, I'm a boy."
"I see. Wow, that's weird. It just magically happened?"
"It's a bit of a longer story than that. There's magic, and there's fixing magic, and there's fixing magic that doesn't completely work.... but this is the result."
"So you're really pregnant? Can you feel the babies kick? Do you know when they're due? Do they have a father? Do you have names for them? How can you take care of them?"
"Yes, I'm pregnant, yes, they kick, no, they don't have a father because it's magic, they're due in two more months, and I haven't named them. I have plans to take care of them." These plans mainly included wishes, of course.
Jon whispered to Karyn. "He believes me. I didn't think it was that easy."
"Of course he believes you," said Karyn. "You wished people would know your true gender, which meant biological, which meant female. They have to believe you for that to happen, right?"
"Can you go to school when you're pregnant?"
"I think it's against the law to kick you out of school for being pregnant."
"If you're a girl, does that mean you're attracted to guys? Or are you a lesbian?"
"I don't know about either one of those. Maybe I can go out with lesbians. I haven't really thought about guys."
"How do you walk that way?"
"It's hard but I can manage. I can't go too far."
"Does everyone have to call you 'she'? Do you wear girls' clothes? If you weren't pregnant, would you do girls' things, like being a cheerleader?"
"No, I'm still Jon even if I have a vagina. And no, I don't wear girls' clothes. Not even panties. And I'm not going to be a cheerleader."
"What do your parents think?"
"They've had their own problems with bad magic, so they have some idea. Besides, I didn't get pregnant by being a slut, so they can't get mad at me for that."
Karyn gave Jon an angry glare. "It only takes one time to get pregnant. You don't need to be a slut."
"That's not what I meant. I just said they can't get mad at me for it, and they can't."
Nobody really doubted Jon; Karyn must have been right about the wish. Although Biff did make some snide remarks, and one of the teachers tried to send Jon to the nurse's office. Two more months of this, thought Jon. The weight, and bloating, and sickness, and everyone not quite able to say it's impossible, because they can't, but treating him as if he had grown an extra arm. And then after that... what? He'd look like his old self without the bulging belly, but he'd still have the sex organs that the Katie on his birth certificate implied. How exactly would he date lesbians, after all?
