Jon thought about the wishes he had made. He had wished that Karyn know what really happened. That was, however, to exempt Karyn from the reality changes that made everyone think he was always Katie. It might not apply to later wishes.
However, all the later wishes about himself changed him in the direction of being Jon anyway. If Karyn knew he wasn't really Katie, she'd remember him as Jon anyway. So it shouldn't matter whether she's affected by those.
The way Mikey set up the notes, they didn't change reality. The way Jon fixed Mikey's wish by making him be two people also didn't change reality.
So he really didn't have much reason to worry about Karyn. As long as Karyn or someone else hadn't read a note before Mikey could take it down, anyway.
Jon knocked on Karyn's door. Her parents must have been out, as she answered the door.
"Jon?" she said. "You look funny."
"Yeah," replied Jon. "Mikey got the stone. He made magic post-it notes and Dad make him get them back. Mikey had wished the note victims couldn't return to normal and the stone made them irreversible just like the stone wishes. So I had to figure the best way to undo them."
"Wow," said Karyn.
"He should have taken all the notes down. You didn't accidentally see one before he did, did you?"
"I don't think so."
"Anyway," said Karyn, letting Jon inside, "what did you do to yourself?"
"I swapped ages with him and genders with Zoe. I fixed the age by entering a tree for nine years."
"What?"
"I fixed the... it had, well, time travel and a tree in our backyard. Anyway I got my age back. I had to do some fixes for other people. I still need to help Zoe--she's a guy now. But the only other thing I had to do for myself was to get closer to Jon. I wished that I had most of the things I had as Jon, so I still own guy stuff."
Karyn nodded. "I see."
"I also changed my name back to Jon. It had become Katie."
"Okay..."
"I already changed reality to make me Katie, so it's probably still Katie on my birth certificate but it should be okay aside from that. Then I wished I would slowly transform so that nobody had any doubt that I'm my true gender."
"Jon," said Karyn, "really?"
"You know what the stone can do! That's not impossible at all!"
"No, I mean, really, that's how you phrased the wish?"
"Yeah."
"You said 'my true gender'? Instead of 'male'? How do you know what the stone considers your true gender?"
"I didn't think of that. Anyway, I said that and I had this warm feeling down here." Jon pointed towards his navel under his shirt.
"You didn't..." said Karyn.
"I didn't what?"
Karyn reached down to Jon's belly and patted it where the navel would be. "You do realize that if your true gender is female, and if you were pregnant, nobody would doubt your true gender, right?"
