"Danny, you're normal," Sarah said, surprised. She had no idea what had happened, but Danny was back to how he normally should have looked (in her mind).
"Normal?" Danny asked, confused. "Sarah, I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm beat," he said, trying to catch his breath, even more so than he was before. "I know I'm good at physical fitness, but I'll never be as good as you at basketball. I just can't compare to a girl."
Sarah watched Danny as he talked, unsure of what she should look at more - his flat hairless chest (all boys had zero body hair - it was a hassle for guys to keep it that way on a daily basis, but no girl wanted to see a hairy guy - that was just gross) or the sizeable bulge in his short shorts. A girl normally had a hard time looking at a guy's face when he was talking to her. Unless they were in love.
"Hey, my face is up here," Danny said, annoyed, pointing one of his french-manicured-nailed fingers at his made-up face.
"Danny, what the hell happened to you?" Steve asked, finally coming out of his momentary shock, seeing his friend change like that.
"What do you mean? Nothing hap ..." Danny began to say, turning in his friend's direction. The moment he saw Steve, however, his mouth hung open. He then made his way over to Steve, walking with a mincing step and his arms straight down at his sides, with his palms angled to the ground, fingers splayed. To Steve, it looked very feminine. To Danny and Sarah, it was just how boys walked. Once he was close enough to Steve, Danny got right up to his ear and whispered urgently "Steve! What are you doing? Put your shirt on. Someone could see you."
"Not you too," Steve said. "What's gotten into you? Why are you suddenly wearing all that? I mean, is that a sports bra? What the hell, man?"
Danny was unsure of what to say. Had Steve lost his mind? He moved his hands towards Steve, intending on grabbing him and shaking him, hopefully to make him see reason. But if he did that, then Steve would also change, becoming part of Sarah's and Danny's reversed gender role reality. Of course, Danny didn't know that. As far as he knew, the reversed gender role reality was the normal reality, and he was normally supposed to look and act the way he was right now. Sarah might have figured it out, but would she stop the change from happening? After all, if it made Steve be normal (in her mind), wasn't that a good thing?
So what happened? Did Danny make tactile contact with Steve, or did Steve somehow avoid being changed?
