Zoe, as usual, was full of dark thoughts on her walk to school. Her anger at her brother for laughing at her seemed to turn up the intensity, which made her feel powerful. She thought about vampires, the occult, whatever it was it was macabre.
Then she noticed the sound of her shoes. Instead of the familiar stomping sound of her Doc Martens, she was hearing a clicking sound, the sound she hears when the preppy girls at school walk by. She stopped walking, hiked up her skirt and looked down at her feet.
"What the hell?" was all that came out of her mouth as she looked down at the pink shoes, knowing full well that she owned nothing like them. How had these atrocities appeared on her feet? No clue appeared in her mind; she even failed to connect Jon and Karyn's laughter to her predicament (thanks to the wording of their wish).
Almost to school, and late as she was, she knew she couldn't get back home to change in time so she decided to head on to her classes. Her dress was long enough to mostly disguise her feet, anyway, and she could be extra careful to walk quietly. The clicking continued as she made her final way along the stretch to school, but the dark thoughts were replace by uneasy ones.
