"Hey, Karyn!"
They turned to see a couple of guys coming toward them. The one in front waved at Karyn.
"Oh, hi, Jake!" Karyn exclaimed, moving in front of Jon to shield him from view. "What's up?" She had earlier tested out a minor love spell on Jake, hoping to get a hot date.
"Nothing much," Jake said, looking a bit nervous. "Uh, this is my buddy Dave."
"Hey," Dave greeted.
"Hi, Dave," Karyn said politely, then realized she should introduce her friend. "This is my friend Jenny. She's really shy," she whispered loudly.
'Jenny' nodded and smiled nervously. Oh God, this is so embarrassing, he thought, a blush beginning to develop on his cheeks. Do they actually think I'm a girl? Can this get any worse?
"Hey, Jenny," Jake said dismissively, his eyes on Karyn. "Listen, do you think we could talk alone for a moment?"
"Oh..." Karyn considered. On the one hand, Jon was trying to avoid detection. On the other hand, hotness... "Yeah, that should be alright. Right, Jenny? Okay, sure." She ignored Jon's pleading eyes, justifying it that he could use some experience with the 'opposite sex'. She let Jake lead her around the corner, leaving 'Jenny' with Dave.
