After some thought, Jon decided to help out his parents.
Holding the stone, Jon said "I wish that Zoe was the kind of daughter my parents wanted her to be." The stone glowed, causing Jon to look away. Then he listened in on his parents again.
"Did you hear?" his mom asked. "She's been picked to be the new student council president."
"That's my Zoe," his dad happily said.
Student council president? Jon thought. But the high school has rules against freshmen taking that position.
Suddenly, Jon heard someone coming down the stairs. He looked around and saw Zoe. And she was certainly not a Goth girl anymore. Not by a long shot. She looked very pretty without all of her gothic make-up. Long dirty blond hair, tanned skin, and a more rounded figure, as if she took better care of her body. Her clothes were quite a spectacle as well. A tight pink baby-T shirt, denim miniskirt, and brown 2-inch heels.
"Hi, Jon," she said, as she passed by. She had her school bag over her shoulder. Zoe never left for school this early.
She walked into the kitchen and Jon's parents seemed to brighten when she did.
"I'm going to school now."
"Okay, pumpkin," her dad said.
Pumpkin? Jon thought.
Zoe smiled and kissed her dad on the cheek. Then she left for school.
This Zoe was way different. But it seemed like he did a good thing. At least his family was better now.
Jon was about to continue his way into the kitchen to grab some breakfast, but stopped when he heard his parents talking again.
It seemed he spoke too soon when he thought that everything was fine, because ...
