Jon hated to hear his parents fighting. It was always the same thing: they didn't understand each other, and didn't bother trying. He knew this fight would escalate and leave both of his parents, and probably the kids, feeling like garbage. That was why he decided to intervene.
"I wish," he began, clutching the cold stone in his hand, "that my mom and dad would resolve this argument by challenging each other to live as the other for a full day starting tomorrow morning. I wish they would both commit to the challenge whole-heartedly, wanting to prove to each other that they can."
Richard's wife was so stubborn. She refused to see that he worked much harder than she did, slaved away every day at a job he didn't enjoy, all for the family. Well, if she thinks she has it so hard, maybe she should learn a lesson.
"Oh, men have it better, do they? How would you know? Have you ever been one?"
Linda crossed her arms in front of her, "No, but I'm not stupid you know. I see how you laze around."
"Laze around?! Okay, I dare you to live just one day as me. You be Richard and I'll be Linda, and then we'll see who had it harder!"
"You're on! We'll do it tomorrow!" Linda spun on her heels and stormed into the bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
"Why did she have to be so difficult?" Richard muttered to himself.
