"I wish they didn't care if I was gay," Jon said, thinking that it would get them off his back about being friends with Karyn. But the moment he finished the sentence, he realized his mistake and knew that he couldn't take back what he said. He only wanted his parents to change their opinion of his relationship with Karyn, but he just knew that the stone would grant his wish in a different way ... that it would make him gay.
And that's exactly what it did.
The stone glowed and Jon clearly felt the shift within his mind. He no longer liked girls. He liked boys. He knew it should have disgusted him, but he felt no revulsion. In fact, it felt completely right to feel this way.
He listened in on what his parents were saying.
"I suppose you're right, Joan," Jon's former father said. "Jon being gay is okay by me."
"I'm glad you see it my way, Jamie," Jon's mother said, smiling.
Jon turned and went back upstairs to his room to get ready for school. He momentarily thought about trying to become straight again, but then he thought - what was so wrong about being gay? It felt totally right for him, even though he knew he was only that way because of a wish.
Shaking his head, he put the stone away and headed to the bathroom. No, at least for the time being, he intended on staying gay.
