After a blinding flash, Jon opened his eyes. He had lids. Flesh. Eyes. Organic body parts. The wish had worked! But how? Wasn't he supposed to remain a Transformer for a week? No, he was supposed to exist in the world of the Transformers for a week. And that world still had humans in it. Lots of them, though only a few were recurring characters like Spike, his dad, his son Daniel, and his wife Carla. It would be lame to be a human bystander instead of a bot, but ... "Karyn?"
She too was human again. Her limp, pale, emaciated body lay on stony ground.
Jon knelt down to examine her. "Oh no!" This wasn't the Karyn he had known until only a couple of minutes ago. She wore a headband with glowing lights. A Decepticon symbol had been tattooed on her shoulder. Rags barely covered a body ravaged by malnutrition and disease. She was a slave. And so was he. He could feel a similar headband covering his forehead. Worst of all, she was dying. In this new reality, she had still been shot, but not by Zoetron.
"What are you doing, human!?"
Jon recognized the voice of Megatron. The Decepticon leader towered over his frail human form. Megatron's right arm cannon was smoking.
"You shot her!" cried Jon.
"Why, yes, I did," said Megatron. "I set my gun to its lowest setting. She'll still live ... to serve me. That is all you aliens are good for. Mining Energon. Get back to work!"
Jon looked around and realized that he was in some sort of mine. He thought he saw his mother, Zoe, and even Biff and Sarah working in the distance. They were just as poorly dressed as Karyn was. He couldn't see if they had headbands and Decepticon tattoos but he was sure that they did. This was horrible. A minute ago, Karyn had suffered. Now everyone he knew was suffering. He had to do something quick. "Wait, o Megatron!" Jon picked up the rock and held it over his head so that Megatron could see it. "I offer you power, master!"
"HA HA!!" Megatron's laughter echoed through the mine. "You, little human?"
"If you don't want it, I'll use it," declared Jon. "I wish ..."
