Just then, Karyn's phone rang. It was Jon. "Karyn," he said excitedly. "I've got the most wonderful news."
"You're pregnant?" Karyn asked.
There was a pause. "How did you know that, Karyn?" asked Jon. "I only just got confirmation from the doctor that I'm carrying. You're the first one I told after my family."
Karyn quickly made up a lie. "I made a wish to know where you were, and the stone told me that you were at the doctor for a pregnancy test." Karyn was stunned; she hadn't considered that when wishing Jon to be pregant, the stone would have chosen the period of pregnancy just after conception. So, at this point, Jon probably wouldn't look any different than he did just prior to the wish.
"I want you to come over as soon as you can, Karyn," Jon continued. "You're my best friend, Karyn. I want you to be part of this. This is the most beautiful thing that could have happened to me."
"All right," said Karyn. "I'll be right over." Karyn hung up the phone and, still slightly dazed, went over to Jon's house.
