It was around the time when Biff recklessly sped through that red light that Tiffany Sanders got a very strange phone call from Sarah McMillan.
"Oh, hey, Sarah," Tiffany said over her cellphone, seeing that the call was from her friend and fellow cheerleader Sarah.
"Hey, Tiff," Sarah said. "You wanna go shoot some hoops or something? I'm getting a little restless over here."
"Excuse me? You wanna go do what?" While Sarah was pretty athletic (due to her expert cheerleading moves), she wasn't one to play sports as recreation.
"Basketball, dumbass," Sarah said, annoyed.
Tiffany was a little put off by Sarah's behavior, but then said "What about going to the mall? We made plans, remember?"
"The mall? Why the hell would I want to go there? That's something boys do. Unless you mean we should go to the mall to scope out guys." Sarah smiled to herself, picturing a bunch of cute boys in tight tops and skirts.
Now Tiffany was confused. What was Sarah talking about? Girls were the ones who liked to go shopping, not boys. She was under the impression that Sarah was looking forward to go shopping that evening. After all, Sarah was the one who came up with the idea in the first place. Tiffany and the other girls said that today wasn't a good day, especially with important tests coming up the next day at school. But now Sarah was acting like they never made any plans to go at all, and was even turned off by the idea of even stepping foot inside the mall.
"So what do ya say, woman? Gonna go play some b-ball, or what?" Sarah asked.
"Sorry, Sarah. But I'm gonna pass," Tiffany said. "You can do whatever you want. If you're not going to the mall, then I guess I'll just stay home."
"Fine, if you really want to go to the mall, then I'm game," Sarah relented.
Tiffany just had to wonder - why was Sarah talking like that, like some meatheaded "bro"? Did she even notice that she was doing it? Maybe Sarah was just being funny.
"Okay. Then I guess I'll see you there."
"Sure, see ya," Sarah said, then disconnected the call. Tossing her phone on her bed, she grabbed one of her loose tank tops and put it on over her bare chest. She then put on some loose jeans, and some socks and sneakers, then headed out to her sports car outside. Moments later, she was cruising down the street, thinking that everything was right with the world ... until she noticed a couple of Biff's friends (Steve Farber and Danny Foster) playing one-on-one basketball at the park. What was really jarring about them was that they were dressed like girls! T-shirts, baggy shorts, socks, and sneakers. Even their hair was short, like a girl's, and they didn't seem to be wearing any make-up at all.
Sarah slammed on the brakes so fast that she felt like she was going to go through the windshield. Fortunately for her, she was wearing her seat belt. But what the hell, huh? Why were Steve and Danny (in her mind, they were cheerleaders) dressed like that? Had they lost their minds?
