Dinner with the Gibsons was rather quiet. Hardly anyone said a word. Karyn could understand why though. Jon's dad was still pretty upset after his encounter with Zoe and Jon's mom kept looking at the clock wondering when Zoe would get home.
Karyn looked over to Jon who shrugged his shoulders. Deciding to try and ease the tension Karyn spoke up.
"Erm, Jon and I have some exciting news Mrs. Gibson." Jon's dad looked up and smiled weakly at Karyn.
"Oh?" Jon's mom said putting her knife and fork down. "What is it honey?" She asked turning to Jon.
Jon looked at Karyn who nodded in encouragement. "Well err, mom. You see, Karyn and I are going to start dating."
Jon's mom broke in to a smile. "Oh Jon that's wonderful news. Congratulations you two."
Jon's dad nodded. "Didn't I tell you sweetheart," he said to his wife. "That they'd make a lovely couple?"
Jon's mom nodded. "Yes, they sure do."
Karyn and Jon blushed as they smiled at each other while holding hands underneath the table.
