Standing outside was a young boy (perhaps 9 or 10), dressed as a boy scout. He was wearing the typical boy scout outfit, consisting of a white blouse, knee-length skirt, white socks, and black mary-janes. A scarf tie was around his neck, a sash was across his chest, and his hair was in a pair of pigtails. "Hello, mister," he said, smiling. "Would you like to buy some boy scout cookies?"
Jon's dad (James) smiled down at the boy and said "Of course, I would." He then went to get his purse. A moment later, he came back and paid for the cookies. When the boy scout left, James waved goodbye, both to the boy and the boy's father who was standing near the road, there to keep an eye on his son. The boy's father, like most men, was wearing a blouse and skirt.
"I hope I bought enough," James muttered, heading back into the kitchen. "I know how much the kids like boy scout cookies."
