Josie went downstairs. She could hear her mother in the kitchen, making dinner. Josie walked in and was surprised by what she saw. Instead of her usual skirt and blouse, Josie's mother was wearing an outfit similar to Josie's! She was wearing a sports jersey (interestingly, one that wasn't one of the teams Josie's dad followed), blue jeans and sneakers. Her long hair, instead of being loose like it normally was, was in a braid like Josie's. Could Josie's wish affected others besides herself? Could she have turned her mother into a jockette?
Josie's mother started taking food to the table. Seeing Josie, she said, "There you are dear. Dinner's just about ready. Can you get Zoe and Mikey for me?"
Josie called up to her siblings. Zoe was still her usual gloomy goth girl self, and Mikey hadn't changed either. Apparently, only Josie and their mother had changed.
As they ate dinner, their mother said, "Remember, I have that softball tournament with my girlfriends this weekend, so you'll be on your own for food." She and Josie talked about the recent sports games. They mostly watched he girl's teams, which wierded Josie out as her mother normally had zero interest in sports. Zoe and Mikey pretty much treated Josie the way they had treated Jon.
The weekend was still a day or two away, so Josie would have a few days at school to see how other people treated her. Would Karyn treat her differently now that she was a girl, or would she not see much of a difference?
