Sarah looked at herself in her mirror, wondering if she looked good enough for her date with Zoe that night. This was their first date out in public. Needless to say, Sarah was nervous. She loved Zoe, dearly. But given her social status, she obviously couldn't be seen being with her. Preps hated Goths, that was a given. It was how things had always been. But there was something about Zoe that attracted Sarah, that made her forget about how things were supposed to be. Zoe was Goth, yes, but she was independent, she took risks, she was exciting.
Sarah looked over herself and decided to swap her blue shirt for a black one. Sarah never wore black. She was more of a pastel fan. But she had to make some tough decisions when she decided to date Zoe. And one of those was buying and wearing black clothes. They weren't gothic in any way, but they still made Sarah feel a little uncomfortable. Still, it was a small price to pay for being able to date Zoe.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. That was probably her.
On her way downstairs to greet Zoe, she hoped that none of her friends spotted them together. She'd lose both her friends and her status.
