"Beats me," said Jonnie. Hey, you know, at least we can talk to each other about things like that. I'm really glad you're here instead of us just being one person. We don't know any more than we would have but we have twice the chance to figure it out."
The last few words were joined by an echo as Jen tried to finish Jonnie's sentence. "... twice the chance to get..." Followed by Jen realizing she was saying the wrong word.
"Oh, I know what you're trying!" exclaimed Jonnie. "You want to see if we can finish each other's sentences. I don't think it's that easy. I mean, we don't know any real people who can do it, it's just something you see in bad TV shows."
"Got it in one," replied Jen. "We're sisters. We're not plot devices." She experimentally dug a pink fingernail into her palm. "We can't feel it when the other one is hurt, either. Or you'd feel this. But I bet we could guess what the other one is doing, not because we're psychic..."
"... but because we know each other very well," finished Jonnie. "See? It is possible. I just finished your sentence."
"Well, we were thinking of similar things," said Jen. "Anyway, I think I have an idea for the bathroom. We just wait for Mikey to go in and then we say we need to use it. If he says 'What, both at the same time?' we know we don't use it together. If he thinks it's normal, then we do. But the big problem..." She hesitated.
"I wasn't going to try finishing the sentence," said Jonnie. "But I can guess. The big problem is that Mikey could just grunt or say something that really doesn't give us any clue at all. The easiest way is to ask the stone. We can't bluff our way through a whole day, anyway. We'll have to ask the stone sooner or later. Wait a minute..."
"No we don't," said Jen, coming pretty close to but not quite at finishing Jonnie's sentence. "We can wish to know it all, though that's no fun. But we can also wish for a list."
"Do we need to argue this?" wondered Jonnie.
"No," said Jen. She picked up the stone. "I wish that me and my sister have a list of things that we need to know to act normal in our lives as twin sisters. I wish that there's no reason why we have this list except that we wished for it."
Instantly a few sheets of notebook paper covered with Jon's handwriting appeared on the nearest bed. Both twins went over to it and read off the top entries. The bathroom was there; sometimes they helped each other with cosmetics, and while they occasionally showered together it wasn't standard procedure.
"Here it is," said Jonnie. "We don't usually do it, but we can. Let's!"
"All right, Sis!" Jen headed off towards the bathroom and disrobed, Jonnie behind her, then locked the door and started adjusting the shower. It was of course perfect temperature for Jonnie as well, since they both had Jon's mind. She pulled the lever and water sprayed down on herself and on Jen, who had entered with her and almost slipped."
Jonnie looked at Jen and said "Oh, wow, I'm in here with a naked girl."
"It's really exciting," replied Jen. "But remember before. We're not acting like sisters, we're acting like Jon, and it's a bad habit to get into. It wouldn't hurt in here, but maybe later. And how about we help each other scrub our backs?"
