"Wow. That was intense." Karyn said matter of factly.
Zoe's eyes flashed to Karyn. "Yeah. Mina's out here trying to steal my life."
Karyn waves her off flippantly. "Oh please, You were never Mina. This just means you're going to have to get your life back piece by piece, instead of Cheating." She growls the final word.
"I'm not cheating, I'm just trying to make sure things don't get out of hand." Zoe snaps. "Miss, irresponsible Barbie bitch."
"Oh stuff it in a corset, you gloom cow." Karyn's bites.
"Whoa! Hey!" Mina interjects "What are you two talking about." She crawls forward on the bed and holds up her hands between them.
"Nothing." Both of them shout at Mina simultaneously.
Zoe continues, "Karyn just keeps making my life worse so she can have some fun, and I'm done with it."
"Or maybe I'm tired of you complaining about having Super-fricken natural powers." Karyn quips.
"Ok, Zoe..." Mina shakes her head. "Err, Jon... Your new life is... temperamental. That's what I had to deal with the past two weeks, so now you get it." She turns to the fuming blonde, "So Karyn, don't... don't hold it against her, she'll figure it out." Her voice takes on a softer tone. "I don't want you two to ruin your friendship over this..."
"Thanks Mina," Karyn relents, but her tone is curt.
Zoe continues to grumble.
Mina continues. "Look, There's still things I want to change about this life too. So maybe we can clear up some of that, and make things a bit easier." She wags her finger at Zoe. "You lost fair and square, and I'm not letting you off the hook after these past two weeks, but let's clear some of this stuff up first.."
"Fine, let's start with my stuff. I want my stuff back." Zoe insists.
Karyn rolls her eyes.
"Fine!" Mina relents. "That's not a big deal." She reaches under the bed. "You can have your stupid box." Yet, as Mina stretched the box out to her sister, and Zoe reached up to take it her hand stayed hovering in the air, coming no closer to the box as the seconds passed. Zoe slowly pushed the box forward, but Zoe's hands drifted further away.
Karyn watched with a smirk. "I guess that clears up who won the last bet. I didn't think it'd prevent you from giving it up willingly after the fact."
"Maybe... Maybe it's because Zoe's trying to pressure me into it?" Mina wondered. "I mean Jon. dang it." Mina hisses, correcting herself.
"Great!" Zoe spit dourly. "So another bet?" she fumed.
"Or not," Karyn insisted, "You lost that bet fair and square, how about you bet for more important things first, and stop obsessing over the stuff that doesn't matter. Stuff that will always be here later." Karyn insisted.
Zoe turned her attention to Karyn. "You know what, maybe you're right. You want to have fun too, right? You wanted to give me a hard time? I Bet that I can last longer than Karyn without complaining."
Karyn raised an eyebrow in both skepticism and curiosity.
"But because you want to be some barbie b..." Zoe pauses and curses under her breath, then more evenly says. "Because you want to be some blondie cheerleader whatever, she has to be a chubby super nerd to make it fair."
A pause hangs in the air before Mina asks. "Can we do that?"
"Sure why not?" Zoe shrugs, "I made that bet for her to be able to remember the bets. So they should be able to affect her in other ways too."
Karyn is quiet at first as she chews on her own words from earlier that day. A scowl is drawn across her face, but ever the fighter, she rises to the challenge. "You know what, I'm game. I already know you won't last a day."
"If I win, I change back to regular Jon me, and she stays a nerd." Zoe concludes.
"No way, you get a free pass on all of your stuff AND you get to mess with me?" Karyn protests.
"I agree with Karyn," Mina concludes. "You're already stuck Zoe. Besides, what do I get out of this?"
"What do you want?" Zoe asks.
"How about this." Mina offers. "If you win, you change into regular Zoe instead of goth Zoe. If Karyn wins I get to change into regular Mina instead of goth Mina."
"And what about me?" Karyn presses.
"You get your supernatural adventure, just like you wanted." Zoe concludes happily.
Karyn makes to speak, but Mina interrupts them before they can start to bicker again. "If Karyn wins she gets..." her voice trails off.
"Zoe has to do what I say for one week." Karyn interrupts her.
Zoe thinks for a second, On one hand there's no telling what Karyn could come up with, but on the other hand they're still friends... right? She couldn't be too cruel, besides she didn't intend on losing this challenge. After considering her options, Zoe concludes. "But if she doesn't win, She also gets stuck as a nerd."
A pregnant silence hangs in the air. Zoe shifts slightly where she stands. Mina speaks up. "These are pretty high stakes... Are you sure you're ok with this Karyn?"
"Sure, if this is what it takes to show Zoe... Jon, Whoever she is now, what a whiner she is. Maybe she'll learn to stop taking her issues out on everyone else." Her arms were crossed confidently, but her eyes were wide with excitement and perhaps more than a bit of nervousness.
Zoe summarizes the terms. "So. I win and I turn into regular Zoe, and Karyn is stuck as a nerd. But if she wins she turns back to normal, I have to do what she says for a week, and you turn into regular Mina?" She thinks for a second, the resolves. "Sure. I agree."
"I agree too." Karyn states confidently.
Mina fidgets on the edge of her bed. "Ok... Listen guys. Just don't take this too seriously." She laughs nervously. "Like, Zoe and I have had our grudges, but we're still sisters... siblings... Whatever. You two are still friends ok?"
Karyn shuffles then admits. "Of course."
Zoe murmurs. "Always."
Mina sighs. "Alright. If this is what you want... Whoever actively complains to someone else about their changes first loses. I agree."
