Zach has a moderator tier in the current site.
The original FB3 discussion from 2011 came up with a flag system, edits could only be made to topics that were flagged by someone who wasn't a moderator. So a moderator could not edit posts at will, and only posts that were flagged as a problem would be approved. But this system also had a 2nd check higher up, in that before an update could be posted, another moderator had to approve the changes before they were uploaded.
The other edit level system is that the original poster had a fixed timeframe after posting to edit their page before they couldn't. They could request an edit and state their reason and it was up to the moderators to approve the edit authorization and then approve the changes afterwards.
Pity the FB3 thread is long gone, there were a lot of good ideas after 3 months of discussions. All I had left over were the documents I sent over back when the official FB3 development started.
Also, not dead, still lurking around here. I have 150 stories to write to finish off SS sometime, but I have a girlfriend now and she's taking all my time :S
